For most teams very little. The games are from Panama City Beach to Fairhope and many parents just drive back and forth to the games without staying overnight.
Nope. They are the same thing. We most often use the term Select Soccer and not Travel soccer as most of our teams do not travel all that much.
There are two team trainings per week of 1.5 hours each. Plus technical/ball skill training and speed/agility training is offered once per week for all players. Goal keeper training is provided for all interested players weekly as well.
The season lasts from August into Mid May with a winter break typically around Mid November until early February (this could vary based on the specific team). Most teams play in 4-6 events in the fall and another 4-6 events in the spring. Each of these events are normally Saturday and Sunday with 3-4 games over the course of the weekend. Many teams also sprinkle in single game events amongst these tournaments.
There is a registration fee and a monthly fee that covers all of the costs for registering players with the various governing bodies, pay the coaches and trainers and to run the facilities. The registration fee is around $300 and the monthly fee is $55-75 depending upon the age of the player and the team they are on. Navarre United is one of the lowest cost select soccer options in the area.
Absolutely! If you need a scholarship, please see either your team manager or club leadership to discuss the process of applying for a scholarship. Most scholarships are partial scholarships.
First you need to indicate your interest. The two most common times to tryout for a team is in May when all teams and all players tryout for their teams and the other is in the winter between the fall and spring sessions. However, many players are added individually during the course of the season based upon team need and the coaches decisions. Remember, start by letting us know you are interested in select soccer and then we will go from there.
Nope! This is select soccer and thus the teams are selected from the group of players that are trying out. Most teams have a lot of levels of players and some may not be at the higher level of other experience players initially, but the coaches may bring these players on based upon the need of the team and with an eye for developing these players over the course of time.
Yes. Every May all players must tryout again. Unfortunately, not all returning players make the team during these tryouts.
Typically around 8 years old is the youngest. We have players at all ages that are trying out for the first time.

As a mother of twins I question every penny I spend and with NUFC, it was without question the easiest decision I made to invest in my children's athletic development. The movement from recreational basic soccer to a select team was a necessary change we had to make if they were going to grow as a player -faster, better, stronger! The stability of having the same coaches and teammates allows for the children to focus on training and not worry about getting to know each other. The players, families and coaches are all dedicated to the growth of the team as a whole. Communication is always an area of weakness with any sport or recreational event but that has NOT been my experience with NUFC. My children have grown on and off the fields because of the basic disciplines that select soccer teaches. The well qualified coaching staff provides positive and constructive feedback to allow for individual player development. With the support of NUFC my twins have changed their love for the game into a deep desire and passion to be out on the fields touching the ball all the time.
